Mantra of Life………….

"Around here we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things"

Over the period of time we learn many things one of them is moving on in life whatever bad you go through. Every now and then we hear the news which are sometimes related to natural disaster (Volcano Eruptions, Tremors, and Tsunami) and sometimes Human inflicted (Terrorist Attacks, Bomb Blasts, Incurable disease etc). Some of them hurt us and our life the most and we are into pieces, but its nature and time which heal every wound and help us to move on. Starting from the scratch with a new hope is Mantra of Life.

Most of us would love to move forward but let's face it, sometimes it's hard. Sometimes we are so used to thinking a certain way that we can't seem to make a first definite step, even though we know deep down in our hearts that it's the right thing to do of life. Don't wait until the time is just right to take the first step toward achieving your goals. The time will never be just right. Make the resolution to start where you are now and go for what matters most in your life.

A mere example of this Mantra is the RITS Reporter. RITS reporter is here after all the natural and unnatural disaster to present life at RITS. This time reporter is embellished with events and celebration at RITS, an interview with one of our colleague, few articles contributed by our colleagues, and many more things……………………

Frank Rahman is a Team Leader of RITS Staffing Team. He enjoys listening to  good music and watching movies... To know  more about him please read the interview as  conducted by Nishfun Nahar.

Did you know?

Just a pinch of it and it’s worth it. We’re talking about salt here. Mined from salt rocks and extracted from sea water, salt is… well, the “salt of the earth.” You can’t live without it healthily. At the same time, you can’t live healthily with too much of it. Get the balance right – in your food and in your live – and salt is worth its own weight. Some surprising good uses for salt
1. Deter ants
Sprinkle salt in doorways, on window sills and anywhere else ants use to sneak into your house. It’s a sure way to keep them out!
2. Kill grass and weeds growing in cracks in your driveway
Tired of weeding your driveway? Sprinkle salt on the grass and pour very hot water over it. Not only is this a highly effective way to kill unwanted plants, it’s also eco-friendly and cheap.
3. Say goodbye to fleas
if your dogs have fleas, simply wash their doghouse and blankets in salt water. If you’re worried your dogs may have brought fleas into your house, simply sprinkle your carpets lightly with salt and then brush it in. Leave it for 12 hours and vacuum thoroughly.
4. Pick up a dropped egg
if you drop an egg on the kitchen floor, sprinkle salt on the mess and leave it there for 20 minutes. You’ll be able to wipe it right up.
5. Clean up oven spills quickly
if a pie or casserole bubbles over in the oven, pour a handful of salt on top of the spill. It won’t smoke, smell and, most importantly, will bake into a crust that makes the mess easier to clean once it’s cooled.
6. Clean brown spots off your iron
simply sprinkle salt on a sheet of waxed paper, slide the iron across it and rub lightly with silver polish. Your iron will look like brand-new in no time.
7. Remove stains from your coffee pot
fill it with 1/4 cup of table salt and a dozen ice cubes. Swish the mixture around, let it sit for half an hour; fill it with cold water and rinse. Your coffee pot will look brand new.
8. Keep your windshield frost-free
Dip a sponge into salt water and rub it on windows, and they won’t frost up even when the mercury drops below zero.

Health & Lifestyle

“Stay Healthy and Wealthy”(Prevent Cold/Flu)

It’s that time of year again, the time when you start hearing coughing and sneezing throughout the office. The cold and flu season typically runs from November – April. Readily spread when people are indoors, cold and flu viruses are often passed along from person to person and surface to surface in the workplace. People are most contagious during the first 2-3 days of contracting a cold and almost immediately and for about 5 days thereafter after being infected with the flu – even before symptoms develop. However, there are many actions you can take to prevent the spread of cold and flu viruses at work:

  • Wash Your Hands for at least 15-20 seconds with soap many times a day or sanitize with an alcohol-gel hand sanitizer, especially following contact with potentially contaminated surfaces.
  • Following washing, turn off the faucet with a paper towel.
  • Dry your hands with an air dryer or a clean paper towel.
  • Use a paper towel to open the bathroom door and dispose of paper towel in a trash bin outside of door.
  • Use a hand sanitizer between washing.
  • Avoid touching your face, eyes, or rubbing your nose.
  • Wash out your water bottle daily.
  • Clean shared items such as phones, keyboards, handles and door knobs with alcohol wipes or other sanitizer type wipes.
  • Avoid close contact with anyone who has a cold or flu.
  • Sneeze and cough into a tissue, throw the tissue away, and then wash your hands. If you don’t have a tissue cough or sneeze into your elbow rather than your hand.
  • Drink plenty of fluids, but do not share drinking cups or straws.
  • Get lots of fresh air.
  • Exercise regularly and frequently.
  • Eat healthy foods such as whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Don’t smoke and decrease alcohol consumption.
  • Relax – stress can decrease immunity.

Independence Day - 2011 celebrations at RITS

RITS was decorated with saffron, green and white, the Indian tri-color balloons, kites, ribbons, flowers all over .Beautiful tricolor decorated cake was cut for this special occasion. Everyone wished each for the Independence Day and greeted each by “Jai Hind”. What lies beneath the celebrations is the national spirit of gaiety, pride and hope for a better future. A spirit and hope that is renewed each year.

On 15 August 1947, India attained freedom from the British Rule. Every year, August 15 is celebrated as the Independence Day in India. This national festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country. The Independence Day of any country is a moment of pride and glory. On this special occasion, rich tributes are paid to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives and fought to free their motherland from the clutches of the oppressors - British who ruled the country. The Prime Minister sets the mood by hoisting the national flag and addressing the nation from the Red Fort, the historical monument in Delhi. This is accompanied by a march-past of the armed and police forces. Similar ceremonies are held in all the state capitals. The Prime Minister's address and the march-past are relayed live on national television

Independence Day should not merely become a part of our holiday list. There should be serious efforts in educating the future generations about the struggles which the freedom fighter underwent to give us the freedom   that we enjoy today.

Peace of mind
Once Buddha was walking from one town to another town with a few of his followers. While they were travelling, they happened to pass a lake. They stopped there and Buddha told one of his disciples, "I am thirsty. Do get me some water from that lake there."

The disciple walked up to the lake. When he reached it, he noticed that some people were washing clothes in the water and, right at that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. As a result, the water became very muddy, very turbid. The disciple thought, "How can I give this muddy water to Buddha to drink!" So he came back and told Buddha, "The water in there is very muddy. I don't think it is fit to drink."
After about half an hour, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back to the lake and get him some water to drink. The disciple obediently went back to the lake. This time he found that the lake had absolutely clear water in it. The mud had settled down and the water above it looked fit to be had. So he collected some water in a pot and brought it to Buddha.

Buddha looked at the water, and then he looked up at the disciple and said, "See what you did to make the water clean. You let it be ... and the mud settled down on its own – and you got clear water... Your mind is also like that. When it is disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time. It will settle down on its own. You don't have to put in any effort to calm it down. It will happen. It is effortless."

What did Buddha emphasize here? He said, "It is effortless." Having 'peace of mind' is not a strenuous job; it is an effortless process. When there is peace inside you, that peace permeates to the outside. It spreads around you and in the environment, such that people around start feeling that peace and grace.
