Pain is inevitable, Suffering is optional

Meditation is a way to achieve inner peace and has quickly gained popularity by many, seeking to give their overall health a boost.

Stress training is common today. Everyone recognizes, how important it is, to give people, tools to deal with this potential killer. Stress usually comes from trying to control the uncontrollable. Chronic stress can cause serious health problems such as high blood pressure, elevated heart rate, and a weakening of the immune system. It even causes physical problems such as back pain.

Effects of stress begin in the mind, which can affect different people in completely unique ways, depending on how they REACT. But, you have a choice as to how you respond to the situations and herein lies your power. Most stress and pain comes from individual's will to have things other way round instead of the way they are as of now. Learn to flow with life and much of your stress will disappear.

We must learn to be more accepting of life. Life is a school and we draw to ourselves the events, circumstances, and relationships we need to help us grow. Every problem offers us two choices - to expand or contract our consciousness. Do we become defensive and self-protective? Or do we see challenges as opportunities to become stronger, to learn and expand? Eventually, through meditation, we can discover an underlying joy that doesn't change under any circumstance. And expansion of consciousness is the essence of spiritual growth.

Independence Day

15 August: Independence Day of India:

Independence Day is an annual observance celebrated every year on 15th of August. It is a day of great significance for the people of India. At this day, India got freedom from the British rule after long years of slavery. It has been declared as the National and Gazetted Holiday all across the country in order to independently commemorate the independence of country from British Empire on 15th of August in 1947.

It was not so easy for the India to get freedom from the Britishers however; various great people and freedom fighters of India made it . They sacrificed their lives in attaining the freedom for the future generations without worrying about their comfort, rest and freedom.

We also celebrated Independence Day at RITS, with enthusiasm and by decorating our premises with tricolors. We all were dressed in tricolors for the day. On this day, we all Indians take a pledge to protect our nation and each other against all odds.

Coffee Good/Bad

As we work in different shifts and are always in need of some kind of stimulant, which can keep us up for hours at work. We majorly depend on coffee. Coffee has a long history of being blamed for many ills - from stunting your growth to claims that it causes heart disease and cancer too. But recent research indicates that coffee may not be bad always.

Studies have shown that coffee has some health benefits, including protecting against Parkinson's disease, diabetes and liver disease, including liver cancer. It also appears to improve cognitive function and decrease the risk of depression.

However, the research appears to bear out some risks. High consumption of unfiltered coffee (boiled or espresso) has been associated with mild elevations in cholesterol levels. And some studies found that two or more cups of coffee a day can increase the risk of heart disease in people. So, how quickly you metabolize coffee may affect your health risk.

Although coffee may have fewer risks compared with benefits, keep in mind that other beverages, such as milk and some fruit juices contain nutrients that coffee does not. So have everything in moderate form and enjoy a healthy living.

" The Chapatti" !!!

A woman baked chapatti (roti) for members of her family and an extra one for a hungry passerby. She kept the extra chapatti on the window sill, for whosoever would take it away. Every day, a hunchback came and took away the chapatti. Instead of expressing gratitude, he muttered the following words as he went his way: "The evil you do remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!"

This went on, day after day. Every day, the hunchback came, picked up the chapatti and uttered the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" The woman felt irritated. "Not a word of gratitude," she said to herself… "Everyday this hunchback utters this jingle! What does he mean?"

One day, exasperated, she decided to do away with him. "I shall get rid of this hunchback," she said. And what did she do? She added poison to the chapatti she prepared for him! As she was about to keep it on the window sill, her hands trembled. "What is this I am doing?" she said. Immediately, she threw the chapatti into the fire, prepared another one and kept it on the window sill. As usual, the hunchback came, picked up the chapatti and muttered the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!"

The hunchback proceeded on his way, blissfully unaware of the war raging in the mind of the woman. Every day, as the woman placed the chapatti on the window sill, she offered a prayer for her son who had gone to a distant place to seek his fortune. For many months, she had no news of him.. She prayed for his safe return.

That evening, there was a knock on the door. As she opened it, she was surprised to find her son standing in the doorway. He had grown thin and lean. His garments were tattered and torn. He was hungry, starved and weak. As he saw his mother, he said, "Mom, it's a miracle I'm here. While I was but a mile away, I was so famished that I collapsed. I would have died, but just then an old hunchback passed by. I begged of him for a morsel of food, and he was kind enough to give me a whole chapatti. As he gave it to me, he said, "This is what I eat everyday: today, I shall give it to you, for your need is greater than mine!"

As the mother heard those words, her face turned pale. She leaned against the door for support. She remembered the poisoned chapatti that she had made that morning. Had she not burnt it in the fire, it would have been eaten by her own son, and he would have lost his life!

It was then that she realized the significance of the words "The evil you do remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!"

Moral

Do good and Don't ever stop doing good, even if it is not appreciated at that time. The willingness to share does not make one charitable; it makes one free,No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted. Do what you can, with what you have, where you are !
