  From the Director's Desk

At the outset, I take this opportunity to welcome all our new RITSian who became part of Rose family during the past few months.

As most of you on the recruiting side may be aware , Rose International has bagged a couple of new accounts that would translate into more business for RITS. The need of the hour is to focus and work as a unit directed towards only one goal – ‘quality deliverable(s) on time'. To make it happen , we all need to accept and acknowledge this wonderful opportunity to shape our own future and growth at RITS, a fact that few may dispute who have been with RITS for last few years.

Managing people still remains the most challenging aspect in modern day management. Ages have passed but no person has been able to master this art or science , whatever you may call it. Yet we take solace with the books, journals and expert advice talking about some complex management jargon to help us understand and address the issue. With passage of time , it is becoming more challenging to make people focus on to their existing jobs and hold them back. High Attrition is a stark reality that has plagued growth plans of many companies within the IT / ITeS sector.

Having said that, have we really analyzed the reason for change or shift in focus? NO…we are merely going by our own hunch….or the reasons provided by employees during exit interviews . More often , employees make use of exit interviews to release their frustration; seldom do we get to the right reason. Gone are the days when people use to work for a lifetime in an organization . In this ever changing, fast, zippy environment , we pull up jobs as a pair of jeans. Little do we realize that to make a mark in our respective profession(s) , we need to invest quality time, understand its nuance and develop finesse .

All great people including the likes of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Dhirubhai Ambani, etc. had their lows and failures. But they were strong willed, had patience and could fight through their lows. The only thing that sets apart a visionary from a common man is their zeal and madness to make their dreams come true against all odds. We are left with less patience today compared to our previous generations. We want things to happen to our life instantaneously. The technological advancement by mankind has still not empowered us to change the laws of nature. You cannot have spring after summer; you cannot give birth to a child in four weeks. You cannot attain puberty at the age of five. In short every process has its cycle time, and we should not tweak it. The same logic applies to individual's aspirations for high growth through multiple job switches.

So what should one do ? HAVE PATIENCE ! If you have it good, develop more. There are no short cuts to success . Any short cuts/ job hunt may also turn into misadventure. Let us not base our judgment or over react on a bad day, bad event or a bad phase…please note that nothing is permanent except change….we have been changing for GOOD, and will continue doing the same in future.

Stay FOCUSED and on course. There can't be a better satisfying moment then when you deliver your best at what you do.

Sincerely ,
Pankaj Seth

 Did you Know?

The Leaning Tower of Pisa has never really been straight

Soon after building started in 1173, the foundation of the Pisa tower settled unevenly. Construction was stopped, and was continued 100 years later . It then became visibly clear that the Tower of Pisa is leaning, tilting to the south.

Since regular measuring of the tower began in 1911, the top of the tower has moved 1.2 millimeters (0.05 inches) per year. Today the top of the Tower of Pisa is some 5.3 m (17.4 ft) off center .

After the bell tower of the Cathedral of Pavia collapsed in 1989, the Consorzio Progetto Torre di Pisa ( Tower of Pisa Project Consortium ) commissioned engineers to stabilize the Leaning Tower . Because the Tower tilted in different directions in its first years, it is slightly curved, like a banana. Engineers are working on the footing of the Tower rather than the structure, hoping to ease the top back about 20 cm (about 8 inches). Despite these efforts, the 800-year old tower will remain leaning.
