Happy Independence Day
From Editor's desk

It gives us immense pleasure to introduce to you a new and vibrant reporter and its just a coincidence as we are also about to usher in to a new year of independence. Infact when some of you are reading this we already might have turned 61 and continues to travel on enjoying and embracing challenges and above all freedom. We are excited about this new and updated reporter where we have tried to put in some honest effort to make it more exciting and interesting, for all of us. Apart from some regular features like company and HR update, there are some NEW features that are being included to add more colors to it.

Talking about some new features, one of them “know your colleague”, where you get to know things about your colleague you always wanted to know but didn't know whom and how to ask, now the person will him/herself share some very interesting facts and moments about themselves and their life. The procedure to chose the person is quite simple as it is based on random selection.

Do tell us what you think about this effort. Applauds in abundance will be hugely appreciated as are the brickbats as that will only help us to improve and build a stronger "wall". Talking about wall which is one more addition to this new reporter named as "RITS wall", where anyone can scribble and share something they think needed to be shared, it need not be a masterpiece … it can be any thing…an interesting experience, a passing thought, about this ever changing and evolving fast paced life and the challenges it pops up every single moment.

And talking about life, it doesn't fail to surprise us with each passing day. It could bring shock one day and can be pleasant the next. It constantly teases us with contradictory emotions, complicated and simple, logical and absurd, sadness and laughter.... hold on isn’t it getting to philosophical ?? So to bring in some relief and refreshment from these contradictions and complications and make it a bit simple….for a moment at least, we have introduced “jokes” section where we have simply tried to tickle your funny bone.

Now as we come to the end of this note. We would again like to wish you all a happy independence day. Cherish this moment of glory.

Director's note

The saffron, white and green, troika of colors amply depicting the social and secular fabric of modern India in form of our National flag is a symbol of respect for a true Indian…Video footage of the flag being hoisted by our first Prime Minister Pt. J L Nehru at Red fort, on Aug. 15 th 1947, reminds us about that blissful moment which over the years has been celebrated as ‘INDEPENDENCE DAY'. India has been independent for 61 years and has emerged as one of the largest economy during the last decade. Much of the credit goes to our IT & ITES industry which has been the engine of growth and constitutes largest pie of our exports. We should all feel proud to be part of this vibrant Industry and should take pride in the contribution / service that we are doing for the nation, the small yet effective contribution that we make to our GDP.

Let's all pledge to promote higher productivity and performance on this auspicious occasion.

WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

Traffic jams are nothing new. In 45 BC, Rome banned all vehicles from within the city - and in other cities vehicles, including horses, were allowed only at night... because of traffic jams.

A truck driver was driving along on the freeway. A sign comes up that reads "low bridge ahead." He tries to turn off but, before he knows it, the bridge is right there and he gets stuck under it. Cars are backed up for miles.

Finally, a police car comes up. The cop gets out of his car and walks around to the truck driver, puts his hands on his hips and says, "Got stuck huh?"

The truck driver says, "No, I was delivering this bridge and ran out of gas"

Diary July 30, 2008

It's really a tragic moment, to hear loss of someone you have grown up with. Today, I had my share and lost my school chum with whom I had spend full 1 year (to many the time would seem too short, but the bondage we developed would envy the best of friends) at boarding and some immeasurable moments after we parted at school. In the wee hours this morning Dr. Hemant, fondly called as DADA (since he was elder to us) broke this heart shattering news, for couple of moments I was numb and did not really felt the grief or turmoil that was expected or unfolded as the day progressed, flashing the good times we had spent together at Lucknow and Kanpur.

How is it possible, how can Siddharth leave us, he was one of the fittest soldiers in the Indian army, one of the bright stars to have been selected for the coveted commando training and had led from the front in many a counter insurgency operations. I chanced upon meeting one of his junior colleagues this summer. Those words from his ‘lance naik' are still echoing in my years…Sahaab (Reference to Colonel Siddharth) leads us from the front and pushes us back saying “why you guys want to take an advance position, why to go where our bullets can reach”. Those words made me feel proud and honored for having known and having a friend like Siddharth.

The pain today is insurmountable due to simple reason that we had retraced each other barely 4 months back and tried hard to refresh events that unfolded in our lives during last 9 years in a dozen phone calls. Siddharth, during this June had promised to spend time with me and family at Delhi , which was not to be due to his early presence at forward position at our borders. It was not to be and now I feel challenged by the situation that destiny has posed, to meet an inconsolable wife Juhi and the two daughters whom I have never met and share the grief with the whole family.

I will prefer to keep him alive in my memory, rather than seeing him dead in flesh.

SIDDHARTH YOU WILL LIVE FOREVER AS A PART OF ME AND EVERYONE WHO HAD COME IN CONTACT OF YOUR EVER YOUTHFUL VIBRANCE
